BBQ + Potluck | 11AM – 3PM

We’re planning on serving up burgers &hot dogs, hot off the BBQ but wanted to get your help with, you know, everything else like waters, gatorades, salads, fruit, desserts, and that special thing that your Mama taught you how to cook <3.

We’ve got a Google Spreadsheet where you can sign-up to bring things like water, ice, plates, etc. Check it here:

OCWPC Potluck Sign-Up Sheet

We’ve got a crack crew of BBQers headed up by none other than Mr. Frank Engelke, OCWPC parent extraordinaire. If you want to pitch in, give Frank a call at (949) 300-8996; tell him Jesse sent you 😉

Also – we’re going to need help with set up and break down and could really use some volunteers to help us with everything. We’ll keep this page updated as we get closer.

All Team Photo – The Main Attraction | 1:30PM

We love a get-together, but we’re going to do something special this year that we’ve never done before – we’re taking a photo of all the teams and their coaches TOGETHER. Rumor has it the club has swelled to 300 kids with the arrival of the incoming 16U & 18U Girls Teams (woohoo!), so that means this is going to be a BIG photo with BIG coordination & cooperation needs.

Time

The photo is planned for 1:30PM, but we’ll start corralling everyone and getting into position at 1:15PM. Do not miss the opportunity to take part in this truly epic photo.

Attire

  • Boys – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC Season t-shirt and either khaki shorts or your speedo.
  • Girls – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC Season speedos.
  • Coaches – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC polos and khaki shorts.

Seating Arrangement

The principal seating arrangement will use the three San Juan Hills pool bleachers. Each bleacher has five benches (rows) and each bench holds 15 people. The lowest row shown in the plan below will be seated on the concrete immediately in front of the bleachers. If you do the math, that gives us 270 spots. Given that we’ve got around 300 kids, we’re going to have to do some expansion at the edges, so prepare for a little flexibility!

To keep things as easy as possible, we have created a seating chart that specifies seating for every team and their coaches:

OCWPC-2020-Team-Photo-Set-Up_v03

For anyone helping to coordinate the photo shoot, you can download a copy of the seating chart here.

Bonus Round

After the main photo, we’re going to do a short video of a team-wide cheer:

“Let’s go, OC, Let’s go!” <clap><clap><clap>

“Let’s go, OC, Let’s go!” <clap><clap><clap>

“Let’s go, OC, Let’s go!” <clap><clap><clap>

“Let’s go, OC, Let’s go!” <clap><clap><clap>

That’s it – four rounds, short and sweet. Oooooowwweeee! It goin’ be good!

Individual Athlete Head Shots | 11AM – 1:15PM // 2:00PM – 3:00PM

A few OCWPC parents happen to be amateur & professional photographers and they are offering to take individual photos of each athlete for a $10 donation. Head shots for the coaches are free!

All proceeds from the athlete head shots will be used to pay for dinner for the coaches and a “plus one” for the upcoming OCWPC 2020 Golf Tournament, Dinner & Helicopter Ball Drop Fundraiser at Tijeras Creek Golf Club on Friday, April 24th. Parents/athletes can pay cash to one of our parent assistants or pay via Venmo to OC parent, Thomas Harter, (@Thomas-Harter-6).

Attire

  • Boys – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC Season t-shirt & either khaki shorts or your speedo.
  • Girls – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC Season t-shirt &  khaki shorts or your speedo
  • Coaches – Please wear your 2019/2020 OCWPC polos and khaki shorts.

Scheduling

Huge thanks to OC Mom, Christina Harter, for putting the head shot schedule together (and putting up with our schedule-reschedule shenanigans as we hammered it all out). Here’s what the day potentially looks like for Athlete Head Shots:

NOTE TO COACHES: If you get your team together and there is a photographer available, we can take a photo of just your team. We’ll leave it to you to corral your team members. Team photos are free.

Full disclosure – the timelines in the table are just guidelines geared towards getting everyone a time slot. It is highly likely that that schedule will either fall apart, get swamped, or moved around, so – if you want a photo, just get in line and we’ll get you one!

A few days after the BBQ, we’ll send out a link to the online galleries where you can download the photos.

OC Parent vs. OC Kid Games | 11:30AM – 1:00PM // 2:00PM – 3:00PM

OCWPC Parent and 10U Game - 2018 10 20_4_c
Have you ever shouted “SWIM!” or “WEAK!!” or “WHY ISN’T <Insert your child’s name here> GETTING AFTER THAT OTHER KID?!?” ?

If you answered “Yes” to any of those, you might suffer from ParentoExclaimiaNonStoppiaAndNotKnowia™, which, sadly, affects 10 out of 10 water polo parents.

But – fear not! We offer a tried and true cure – playing a simple game of co-ed water polo against your own child and the children of others.

How does it all work, you ask? First, you visit the awesome Google Parent vs Kid Sign-Up Spreadsheet that OC parent, Paul Bottiaux, set up and add your name and – if your athlete wants in – add their name as well. Here’s the link:

OCWPC Parent vs Kid Sign-Up Spreadsheet

(Please note: On the Google sheet, athlete name does not have to align with parent name. Parents, please just add your name to the last column on the right. Enter the Athlete’s names in their respective column, ie 14U Boy, 12U Girl etc, and enter any parents, alumni, or anyone else that wants to play in the designated column.)

We are expecting a big turnout for the games, so please ensure you sign up by Saturday, February 22nd. Once we know how many are interested we will form teams and send out the schedules to everyone.

Once the schedules are set up, you show up and you get in the pool and then play your heart out! Sure-fire cure, works every time!

#LetsGoOC, Let’s Go!!

If you have any questions about the parent-kid games, feel free to reach out to Paul Bottiaux at pjbottiaux@yahoo.com or (949) 370-8323.

Parent + Athlete 16U & 18U Girls Team Meeting | 2:30PM

Coach Petar, Coach Chris Smithson (16U Girls) and our newest coach – Coach Jessy Cardey (18U Girls) – want to have a quick parent + athlete meeting to discuss scheduling, pools and a bunch of other exciting stuff! If you ar new to the team(s) and don’t know who any of those coaches are, just look for the gathering group of girls, probably near the end of the pool closest to the football field 🙂

See you soon!

So, yeah – you don’t want to miss this BBQ.
